Honoring Legacy: The Enstoolment Ceremony of Queen Mother Iva E. Carruthers
The Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference is honored to announce a historic moment in our global journey of faith, justice, and cultural reclamation: the Enstoolment Ceremony of Dr. Iva E. Carruthers as Queen Mother in Ghana, West Africa. This sacred event will take place during the God Box Tours Pilgrimage and PANAFEST 2025, between July 19th and August 4th, across Cape Coast, Elmina, Kumasi, and Accra.
As General Secretary of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Conference, Dr. Carruthers has been a steadfast voice for justice, liberation theology, and spiritual empowerment. Her enstoolment recognizes decades of leadership and vision, bridging the African Diaspora with ancestral heritage through a ceremonial act deeply rooted in Akan tradition.
🌍 What is an Enstoolment Ceremony?
An enstoolment is a revered cultural ritual in which a person is installed as a chief or queen mother, symbolically seated on the ancestral stool of leadership. The stool represents not only authority, but the spiritual lineage and soul of the people. Through this sacred rite, Mama Iva will be formally recognized as a guardian of wisdom, tradition, and community upliftment—charged with preserving the cultural memory and continuing the work of liberation.
This enstoolment is more than a ceremony—it is a calling forward of ancestral legacy, diasporic connection, and spiritual sovereignty. Join us as we honor Queen Mother Iva Carruthers, and walk a path toward wholeness, memory, and truth.
